Due to the country’s complicated recent history, wildlife conservation has had difficultly gaining momentum, particularly in remote locations, making it all the more important today. Through exceptional on-site experiences, your stay at Corocora contributes towards the preservation and protection of large areas of Colombian wilderness for future generations.
By working closely with our partner Fundación Cunaguaro, a local conservation organisation, we help to fund the investigation of wild animals through species-specific research and finding new strategies for the mitigation of biodiversity threats affecting felines such as jaguars, pumas and ocelots. Together lead the installation of camera traps and tracking devices to monitor species, collaborate with guest scientists, and implement essential community and educational projects.
We also empower neighbouring communities by encouraging local landowners to value feline conservation and ecotourism as a viable income option that will both ensure the protection of their lands from industrial expansion, and of the animals inhabiting them.
